David I. Cohen, MD, MSc

Chief Executive Officer, Maimonides Dept. of Population Health; Executive VP of Clinical Affairs & Affiliations at Maimonides Medical Center

Dr. Cohen is Maimonides' lead contact for the DSRIP program and the senior executive responsible for the organization's population health initiatives. Prior to joining the staff at Maimonides, Dr. Cohen served as Vice President for Medical Operations at the NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation and as Medical Director at Bellevue Hospital Center. Long focused on efforts to advance the use of health information technology to improve quality and access to care, Dr. Cohen was a founding member of the board of Brooklyn Health Information Exchange, one of the first Regional Health Information Organizations.

Dr. Cohen received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and received a Master's in Epidemiology and Health from McGill University where he was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar.

 

Karen Nelson, MD, MPH

Chief Medical Officer, Maimonides Dept. of Population Health; Senior VP, Integrated Delivery Systems at Maimonides Medical Center

Dr. Nelson is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of the clinical and care management programs that will ensure the achievement of CCB's DSRIP goals. Before assuming her current position at Maimonides in 2012, Dr. Nelson served as the CEO and Medical Director of the Union Health Center and as Vice Chair of Medicine at Maimonides, during which time she worked to expand the ambulatory care network and established a community-based training program for residents in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Nelson has an undergraduate degree from Yale University and graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital and received an MPH degree from Boston University School of Public Health.

 

Caroline D. Greene, MBA 

Chief Administrative and Financial Officer, Maimonides Dept. of Population Health

Chair, CCB Finance Committee

Ms. Greene oversees financial management, information technology, analytics, and reporting for CCB. Ms. Greene has held leadership positions at a number of health and human services organizations, having served as Chief Financial Officer at the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood of NYC, and St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children, and as Vice President for Planning at Cabrini Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital. Ms. Greene was the Senior VP for Physician Integration and Managed Care Services at Saint Barnabas Health Care System in NJ, where she led the development of the Saint Barnabas Physician Partnership, obtained designation of 3 SBHCS facilities and their affiliated physicians as participants in the Medicare Provider Partnership demonstration project. Ms. Greene also served as VP for Network Management at GHI, leading statewide contracting, credentialing and provider relations efforts.

Ms. Greene has a BA in Economics from Wellesley College and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at NYU.
