New York State has worked with the Federal Government to initiate the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program, which will allow the state to reinvest over six billion dollars to improve healthcare for Medicaid recipients. The DSRIP program will promote community-level collaborations and focus on system reform, specifically a goal to achieve a 25 percent reduction in avoidable hospital use over five years.
DSRIP funds will be based on performance linked to achievement of project milestones and will include planning grants, provider incentive payments, and administrative costs. Over twenty Performing Provider Systems (PPSs) were formed statewide to include a broad set of health and social service providers to drive transformational delivery system integration.
The DSRIP program will run from April 1, 2015 through March 31, 2020.
